Pole-Swinging Man, Angry Woman Assault Anne Arundel County Police Officers

Two Anne Arundel County Police Officers are recovering after being assaulted in separate incidents, authorities say.

The first assault occurred around 11:40 a.m., Thursday, March 30 in the area of Mountain Road near Jumpers Hole Road while officers were on a routine patrol of the area, according to Anne Arundel County police.

The officer was patrolling the area when he noticed a man, identified as Decarlos Briscoe, 33, assaulting another person with a pole in the middle of the road.

The officer immediately attempted to diffuse the situation and was met with a closed-fist punch in the face by Briscoe.

Briscoe was taken into custody and charged accordingly. The first victim and the officer only suffered minor injuries.

Twelve hours later, around 11:45 p.m., Anne Arundel County police officers were called to perform a welfare check in the area of Cedar Hill Road in Brooklyn Park.

When officers arrived at the scene, the caller, identified as Dessarae Cannon, 32, became disorderly and kicked one of the responding officers. 

The officer suffered minor injuries and Cannon was taken into custody and charged accordingly.
